toliay19 августа 2026I have read this story as a part of Stephen King’s “Nightmares & Dreamscapes” collection.
The story tells of a family who one night receives a telephone call vaguely warning them of some tragedy. Neither the characters nor the reader has any solid clue of what the call was about until it is too late.
I truly enjoyed this story. It is written with excellent craftmanship. Considering that it was meant to be adopted for television, I would wager that the written version is superior to any adaptations precisely because of King’s literary craftmanship.
To me it is a prime example of why I consider Stephen King an excellent popular writer.
