kloynism22 августа 2022“Normal People” is a book about totally abnormal people. it’s a satire, i think.
from the very first impression, from the very first chapter the book felt weird. like, really weird. you just stand there, between words and don’t know how to feel.
i adored the language of this story. the written depth of every character that represented how talented and empathetic the author is.
it makes you comfortable in the story, whatever happens in the plot you stay calm and feel like the things are going on as they should. [illusion]
in the beginning, and somehow still now i have the sympathy for Marianne [we have nothing in common]. some of her thoughts felt relatable to me, i was so excited to see and understand how her mind works.
no words will be said about connel. he pissed me off. made me hate him. i don’t even feel sorry for him. just nothing.
and as i’ve read the whole book, i’ve got a scary feeling that i’m very much afraid to meet people like connel.
the sort of stories like this are feeling physically heavy to me, so very uneasy to read, after which i feel more anxious and frightened, unable to survive in the world of monsters.
i felt personally attacked in the last 100+- or so pages. i’ve never faced with anything like this in real life [hopefully never will], and probably this is what makes this story to me so ugly.
but as if looking at it as a piece of art in literature - the book is good.
